Change needs collaboration

Have your every thought. this moment is so beautiful, let´s hold on to it forever?  We all know there nothing more consistent than the  fact that our world is permanently changing.

Some  business leaders came to conclusion that this is why planning os overrated and try even to skip project planning.  Some project managers hide behind the word agile, as this implies to respond flexible to the our every changing circumstances.

If everything is changing it may be that our lesson we learned bases on our experience can be not the best way to approach the new situation.

This is good news for all new aspirational young  leaders. Being a project leader does not mean you need  to know it all and be always right.

Being a project leader comes with a set of responsibilities that extend beyond simply being right. In fact, embracing the idea that it's okay not to always be right can have several positive implications for your leadership style and the overall success of the project.

What is cool about Change?

Change does not only bring risks and pain of letting go but brings new opportunities.

Change is cool for everyone who loves adventures,  innovation and is excited about the news technology.

Imagine the opportunity when strong  experienced experts start collaborating with young ambitious thinkers in an open and respectful discussion, how much innovation can be triggered just by allowing new viewpoints? How many shortcuts can a  leader find just by listening to  experienced experts?

Change can finally make our life better by

  • bringing clean water to everyone
  • stopping the military industry killing people, poising the environment and changing the climate
  • curing cancer by providing healthy food, healthy lifestyle and healthy treatments
  • creating rules for respectful coexistance of people of all nationalities.
  • fostering open communication between people to create a beautiful world for our children
  • and so much more you name it....

How can we  lead through change?

First of all being a leader means believing in a positive future ourselves. This starts with positive self talk.

Learn to foster a collaborative environment

  1. Encourage Team Contribution: Acknowledging that you may not have all the answers creates an open environment. Team members are more likely to contribute their ideas and expertise, fostering collaboration and creativity.

  2. Strengthen Team Bonding: Humility in leadership builds trust and strengthens team relationships. When team members see a leader who values their input and admits when they might not have all the answers, it creates a positive and inclusive working atmosphere.

Promote Continuous Improvement:

  1. Embracing Learning Opportunities: Admitting that you don't know everything opens the door to continuous learning. It encourages you and your team to seek out new information, stay updated on industry trends, and implement improvements based on evolving knowledge.

  2. Adapting to Changing Circumstances: In the dynamic landscape of project management, flexibility is crucial. Being open to the possibility of not having the perfect solution allows for quicker adaptation to unexpected changes or challenges.

Enhance Decision-Making:

  1. Collective Decision-Making: Recognizing that you might not always be right invites the team to engage in collective decision-making. This approach often results in well-rounded choices that consider multiple perspectives, increasing the likelihood of successful outcomes.

  2. Reduce Stress and Burnout: The pressure of always being right can lead to stress and burnout. Embracing the idea that it's okay not to have all the answers allows you to share the decision-making load and prevent undue stress on yourself.

Nurture a Growth Mindset:

  1. Demonstrates a Growth Mindset: A growth mindset involves seeing challenges as opportunities for growth. Embracing the possibility of being wrong fosters this mindset, encouraging you and your team to view mistakes as learning experiences rather than failures.

  2. Encourages Risk-Taking: Teams are more likely to take calculated risks when they know their leader acknowledges the uncertainty that comes with decision-making. This can lead to innovative solutions and the exploration of new possibilities.

In essence, being a successful project leader is not about having all the answers but about creating an environment that encourages collaboration, continuous improvement, and adaptability. By letting go of the need to always be right, you empower yourself and your team to navigate the complexities of project management more effectively.
